What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles and/or the burning of an herb called moxa on specific points along energy pathways through the body called meridians. The needles and moxa influence the flow of energy, or Qi, to assist the patient in gaining and maintaining health. The Nei Jing, or Yellow Emperors Classic, written in 200 BC, provides the central pillar upon which the practice of acupuncture was built. There are many styles of acupuncture, including Five Element, TCM, Japanese, and Structural Acupuncture.
